After my time at 29029 Stratton Vermont this October 2024, it was hard to describe and process my experience. My training and time leading up to the event was healing for me and was just what I needed at this time in my life. I had finally taken time to focus on ME and my health after caring for others most of my life. I feel that my story is just beginning.
I’m back again in 2025 to climb Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Once again I will be climbing the equivalent of Mount Everest 29,029 vertical feet in 36 hours to earn another red hat! This time I’m climbing to support the Kyle Pease Foundation. This incredible organization is dedicated to creating opportunities of inclusion for individuals with disabilities through sports. Their work helps athletes with disabilities experience the joy of endurance events, breaking down barriers and fostering community.
As a pediatric nurse, I have always been passionate about empowering others to overcome challenges, and supporting this foundation aligns perfectly with these values. Taking on this physical and mental challenge is my way of honoring the resilience and strength I’ve seen in my patients and in the athletes the foundation serves. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate 30 years as a nurse!
