Sarah Ross Mchenry's Story

Hi, I am Sarah and I have been nominated as Young Adult Advocate of the Year. I am a two time survivor, neuroblastoma at the age of 8 and MDS (myelodysplastic syndrome) and AML (acute myeloid leukemia). for which I had a stem cell transplant. As a result of my cancers, as well as complications rising from them and the treatment of them. I was left with quite a lot of disabilities and challenges, including advanced joint disease, spine issues including collapse, as well as an acquired brain injury as well as a stroke a year ago. I am no longer able to drive, which makes it much harder to be able to participate in activities. I am very glad to have organizations like Cactus Cancer around, as I get the benefit of talking with others online, as well as being able to participate in different workshops including crafts, writing, and several others. As someone who cannot drive/get around as easy, having these workshop that I am able to participate in without needing to leave me apartment. However to be able to provide us with the needed items to participate in these workshops requires the funds to be able to send them for us to use. I am asking that if you are able to please consider making a donation to this lovely organization that means so much to me as well as so many other cancer patients and survivors. Thank you!!
