On October 21, 2025, the Newman family’s world was turned upside down. KaSandra Newman, a beloved mother, grandmother, wife, and tireless community leader, was on her way to work in Tulsa when she was involved in a horrific vehicle accident. The crash left her with a severe traumatic brain injury, an anoxic brain injury, and multiple other serious bodily injuries.

KaSandra has spent over four months hospitalized, including time at an advanced out-of-state neurological rehabilitation hospital. Her courageous fight to recover has included relearning the most basic functions: walking, speaking, eating, and regaining use of her arms and legs. The road ahead remains long, challenging, and filled with uncertainty, with medical and care expenses that have become truly astronomical.

KaSandra has always been there for others. As a dedicated leader in the Fraternal Order of Police Auxiliary (FOPA), she served as Local President, State President, and National Vice President. The FOPA unites and supports families of the Fraternal Order of Police, especially during times of need. Their motto, “Never let them walk alone,” was more than words to KaSandra; she lived it by building real connections and ensuring members knew one another before a crisis struck. She has touched countless lives through her service and selflessness.

Today, KaSandra is back in Tulsa and residing in a nursing home. Unfortunately, insurance has stopped covering additional rehabilitation services, and her husband, Trent, cannot bring her home because she requires 24/7 care. The financial burden of providing the specialized, ongoing care she desperately needs is overwhelming for the family.
