Help us send PreK and Kindergarten on a Field Trip!

Help us send our pre-K and kindergarten classes to Davis Farmland in the spring! In Worcester Public Schools 1st-12th grade field trips are supported by the Worcester Educational Development Foundation, but they do not provide field trips for our early childhood students.  So we are raising money to give our students an enriching, fun experience outside of school.

Our School
We are a city-wide pre-k through 6th grade elementary school and our students come from every corner of Worcester.  We are also a mulitilingual school, with the only transitional bilingual education and two-way dual language programs in the district (in English/Spanish). Our school has about 550 students and is 65% low income, 80% high needs, and 49% English language learner.

Why a Field Trip?

Hands-on Learning: Field trips offer experiential learning opportunities that engage multiple senses. For kindergarten and pre-k students, who are often tactile learners, this hands-on experience will enhance their understanding of various subjects, such as science, history, and nature.

Real-world Application: Field trips allow students to see how what they learn in the classroom applies to the real world. For example, a visit to this local farm can help them understand the animal unit they study and can deepen their understanding of these concepts.

Social Skills Development: Field trips provide opportunities for pre-k and kindergarten students to interact with their peers outside of the classroom setting. They learn to communicate, collaborate, and problem-solve in a new environment, which are essential social skills for their development.

Stimulating Curiosity: Field trips often spark curiosity and inquiry in young children. Exploring new places and experiences can ignite a child's imagination and desire to learn more about the world around them.

Physical Activity: Davis farmland involves physical activity, such as walking, jumping, and playing. This physical movement is crucial for pre-k and kindergarten students' health and well-being, as well as their cognitive development.

Parental Involvement: Field trips encourage parental involvement, as parents volunteer to chaperone. This involvement strengthens the home-school connection and allows parents to be actively engaged in their child's learning experiences.

Overall, field trips provide pre-k and kindergarten students in with valuable opportunities for holistic learning, cultural enrichment, social development, and exploration of the world beyond the classroom.
