Follow all the rules and guidelines listed below. COOK OFF RULES
The competition will be limited to a maximum of 20 teams; a waiting list will be compiled in case a team drops out. The event directors determine team locations at the event. Your spot is not reserved until the fee is paid.
Team members must be 18 years or older or accompanied by a parent. Only team members will be allowed in the cooking area.
All team participants must sign the “Team Participation & Liability Waiver” before or on the day of the event.
Teams must be confirmed and paid by March 28, 2026
Cook Team Entry fee is $250 per team; each team is provided with 2 sacks of crawfish; no outside crawfish allowed.
Each team must provide its own seasonings for the boil; this is considered a true boil, so corn and potatoes are required as part of the boil. Minimum 24 cobs of corn & 20 lbs of red potatoes must be included by each team. These are to be split between the 2 batches.
Set up between 9 am & 10 am. 1st batch needs to be ready for Judging beginning at 11:15 am
Each team must provide its own tent, tables, chairs, etc. Businesses may advertise on or at their tent.
Each team must have a trash bag or a can at their booth for public use.
Each team is responsible for their equipment and utensils to both boil and serve their crawfish to the public tasters. Examples of utensils and equipment include, but are not limited to, boiling pots, boiling baskets, propane, ice chests, ice, burners, knives, chopping boards, tables, chairs, garbage bags, etc.
The event will provide containers for serving crawfish to the public. A serving table must be available at every booth.
Propane tanks or fuel tanks shall be in good working order and within code as per federal and state standards and regulations.
Each team is responsible for transporting its own equipment, supplies, pots, etc, and will be assigned a load-in time and location before the event.
Potable water will be available. No electrical power will be supplied. The team may have a generator
Teams may bring their own coolers into the cook-off area for their own consumption and not to be shared with the public.
All team serving areas must boil a minimum of two (2) sacks of crawfish and have 1st sack available to the public for sampling by 11:30 am on the day of the contest.
Official wristband sold by the Kiwanis Club of Walker. Each wristband is for unlimited samples. Teams must check for arm bands before distributing trays of crawfish, after all, this is a fundraiser, and its success relies heavily on your participation.
Each team is responsible for maintaining clean and safe boiling and serving areas. IMPORTANT: Dumping of crawfish pots only onto approved areas. Care must be taken to avoid spills. Crawfish peels should be thrown in garbage bins. Failure to comply will result in being unable to participate in any future Kiwanis events.
Each team is responsible for cleaning up its booth area after the cook-off is over. No items can be left in the area after the event. Teams MUST be prepared to stay until the event is over.
A Safety Team meeting is mandatory; a team representative must be present.
All day logistics regarding parking, load-in, judging, and the schedule of events will be distributed before the event.
Kiwanis of Walker will provide Music. Please do not play your own music in your tent.
All donations are non-refundable.
