Join us for an engaging presentation as we reveal our highly anticipated California Doughnut Snapshot, a visual and analytical tool designed to assess California's ecological and social well-being within the framework of Doughnut Economics. California is the 5th largest economy in the world and has the highest relative poverty rate in the United States while being one of the most politically progressive states. This snapshot offers a unique perspective on how California is faring in balancing essential social foundations with the ecological boundaries of our planet.
In this presentation, we will begin with opening remarks from special guest - Michael Mezzatesta aka @michael_mezz We will then share the step-by-step process behind the creation of the snapshot, including data collection, stakeholder engagement, and adaptation of Doughnut Economics principles to the specific needs of California. We will also share key insights from the process shedding light on areas where California is excelling, as well as where critical gaps remain and have time for group celebration, discussion and questions.
Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of:
- The methodology used to tailor the Doughnut model to California's unique environmental, economic, and social landscape.
- Our major findings and what they reveal about California's progress toward sustainable development.
