What is the 2021 Women Build?
While women are always welcome and valued on our construction site, our Women Build day is part of an international initiative to recruit, educate and inspire women to build— and advocate for—safe, affordable housing opportunities for local families. The Women Build program has been an official initiative of Habitat for Humanity International since 1998, and Rockford Area Habitat for Humanity hosted our inaugural Women Build in 2018.
How can I help?
In additional to our volunteering, we ask that you contribute financially if able to our work in creating safe, affordable housing for Rockford families. In addition to the social and community impact we want to make, donations help us build more homes faster for the Rockford area for amazing families to purchase. You can donate directly or click the Fundraise button to get your own link to share on social media. Let others know what's happening May 14th and ask them to come out, or to support you in raising some money for our mission.
If you've landed here looking to volunteer, please contact [email protected] for more information!
What to expect if you volunteer:
Volunteers must be at least 16 years old. For COVID-safety, we are limiting this year's Women Build day to 20 volunteers, so registrations will be taken on a first-come first-served basis.
Women work; women nurture; women lead; women build! Women wear so many hats – on May 14th, let a hard hat be one of them!
