Marmalade came to us on July 26th, 2025 from a home with 15 cats of various ages. Her owner was being placed in a memory care facility and no one wanted the cats. Marmalade was 1 of 2 cats of senior/geriatric age believed to be around 17 years old. We took her and her mate Dandelion.

Marmalde is a sweet girl and needed a quiet place to live out the rest of her days. She had only been fed cheap dry food and she has trouble eating. An intial vet exam confirmed that she does indeed have significant dental issues.

Since arriving to our Sanctuary it is obvious that she does eat with difficulty and pain. In fact, her gums have been bleeding off and on and oftentimes she has dried blood on her mouth. We are keeping her as comfortable as we can and feeding her all the soft food she will eat to keep up her weight.

We have a care plan and estimate from our vet for her dental surgery~the cost will be between $1,200 and $1,500 depending on how many teeth extractions she will need. She will have a thorough exam, dental x-rays and all the necessary precautions taken with a senior cat under anesthesia for her surgery. This is a necessary medical surgery for her to have any sort of quality of life in her golden years.

We applied for a medical grant to cover the cost of her surgery and were unfortunately denied. We are asking our faithful supporters for help in raising the funds to cover her surgery. If we raise an excess of what is needed, it will go towards her aftercare, medication and food needs.

Fundraising has gotten harder for us over the past couple of years, and we operate on limited funding. We took Marmalade not knowing the extent of her medical issues, but it is our duty to her to give her all that she needs.
