I’m Shanon Peter, a physician and Wonderland dad of Lily (9) and Tommy (8). My wife Tiffany and I have had the great fortune to grow up around books and raise our kids the same way. Books and reading are foundational to a good society, where people grow up to be critical thinkers, learn for knowledge’s sake, participate in research to push new frontiers, ask “why,” and improve the world. Both of our kids have benefitted from excellent educations within LAUSD including Riverside, Colfax, and now Wonderland Gifted Magnet. We believe in a world where all kids have easy access to the world of literature and all public school libraries have the resources for their students to thrive. For my 40th birthday, I made a resolution to do something I’ve never come close to doing before: running the LA marathon. It’s coming up on March 17, and has led me to put over 400 miles of training in during the past 4 months and get to the healthiest I’ve ever been! I’d love to join neighbor John and others in using this race to raise money both for Wonderlands awesome library (thanks Ms. Myrtle!) and also ALL of the LAUSD school libraries.
