JOIN THE MOVEMENT
Across 14 states and more than 2,000 miles of wild landscape, the Appalachian corridor connects our forests, wildlife, and communities. At Wild Roots, we protect and restore this living system through five powerful initiatives that bring people back to the land and the land back to life. Every dollar you give helps us protect more land, restore more trails, plant more trees, and inspire more people to get outside.
1. Wilderness Conservation – Preserving the land that sustains wildlife.
Protecting wild lands and restoring ecosystems across the Appalachian corridor to support biodiversity and strengthen local communities. Save the wild things.
2. The Overland Order – Adventure with impact.
Our signature volunteer adventure club transforms hikers and campers into stewards of the wild, restoring trails, waterways, and parks. Join the adventure.
3. Little Sprouts – The future of environmental stewardship.
Connecting children to nature through hands-on education, wildlife identification, trail safety, and Appalachian history. Educate our youth.
4. The Appalachian Food Trail – Fighting hunger through the land and its bounty.
Planting native orchards and edible landscapes to nourish communities, combat food insecurity, and celebrate our agricultural heritage. Plant seeds of change.
5. Nature Centers – Creating gateways to adventure and environmental learning.
Developing future Wild Roots Nature Centers to host conservation programs, workshops, and accessible trails that celebrate Appalachian heritage. Grow our community.
