The end of the year marks a time when many of us take a moment to reflect on all that we’ve experienced, accomplished and celebrated during the previous 12 months. With thankful hearts, we enter the holiday season with special gratitude for those who’ve made our lives better – and feel a sense of joy for the times we’ve brought joy to others.

For us at the La Crescent Community Foundation, we pause to reflect on the people and organizations we’ve been able to help this year. These are people who have a vision to make La Crescent and the surrounding area a better place to call home through the work they do on the projects they feel passionate about.

They’re young people who want to make our natural resources accessible to all our residents, they’re community leaders who have a dream of bringing people together through music, and they’re singular people who have a mission of giving everyone a better chance of survival during a medical emergency.

We’re thankful for those who’ve sought out the La Crescent Community Foundation to help make their ideas a reality. Over the past year, our organization has provided funding to an Eagle Scout planning to build a kayak launch and accessible dock on Blue Lake; La Crescent Live, a group of leaders in our city who are raising funds and awareness to build an outdoor concert venue; and 7 Rivers Cardiac Arrest Preparedness Group to place AEDs throughout the community.

Along with those and several others, we’ve continued our investment in college scholarships for graduating seniors and parks and recreation scholarships for families who need some assistance. These people and organizations are why the La Crescent Community Foundation exists, and we share in the commitment to their dreams and goals.

But the opportunity to support these groups would not be possible if not for the sustaining support of the community. Donors like you are why we’re able to do what we do. You share in the pride we feel when grant dollars bring a vision to life. By the gifts you give, you’re making La Crescent a better, stronger community now and for years to come.
