When it comes to doing work that supports the community, seldomly is it done in a vacuum. If there are big aspirations that call for a big effort, our neighbors come together to accomplish what one person could not alone do. We see it in the projects of our service groups, schools, churches and volunteer groups. And in a way, we see it in ourselves.

Each year, the La Crescent Community Foundation is fortunate to be able to assist private individuals and public groups with their goals of providing La Crescent with amenities and opportunities that wouldn’t exist but for the visions they have and the passion to make it happen. However, our good fortune to be in such a position is only possible because of the generosity of the people we look to serve.

We’re thankful to those who’ve supported our mission of supporting those who look to make La Crescent a better place to live. In 2023, the Foundation was honored to partner with La Crescent Live and its drive to bring arts and entertainment to the community; Windy Ridge Ranch and its goal of making horseback riding accessible to all children; La Crescent Farmer’s Market and its mission to teach kids about healthy eating and shopping local; and the Lunch Wagon, which fed children during the summer when school lunch was missing, just to name a few.

We’ve also been able to continue our college scholarship program for graduating high school seniors and our parks and recreation grants for families who need assistance with summer activity enrollment fees. Next year, we’ll begin facilitating a scholarship, in collaboration with Living for Liz, to benefit a senior member of the La Crescent-Hokah High School girls basketball team, as well as a student pursuing a career in nursing. 

This financial support for people looking to carry out their dreams and make their visions a reality is why we’re here. It’s why the Foundation exists. But this important work cannot happen without the support of people like you. Your contributions to the La Crescent Community Foundation prove you care about and believe in your neighbors and this city. Your gifts help make La Crescent a better place to live, now and for many years to come.
