LGBT Center of Raleigh General Donations

The LGBT Center of Raleigh is a community-based organization that serves the queer and trans communities of the triangle and surrounding areas through programs that strengthen individual and community development through social and educational activities. The Center works to identify needs and advocate for resources benefiting the LGBTQ+ community, their friends and supporters within and beyond central North Carolina.

Your donation will help us rebuild our community center and benefit our 20 programs, including youth and family social programs, health and wellness, care coordination, and gender inclusion programming. Due to the multifaceted and community-based nature of our programming, it is imperative that we have an accessible and centralized space to deliver services and allow for walk-ins. Currently, the Center is in a temporary space about ten minutes from downtown Raleigh off of Capital Boulevard that is not easily accessed via local buses.

We are grateful to our partner Workplace Options for opening their office space to us while our new space is renovated, but we need capital support to complete the build. Your support would provide a critical resource for our small organization. With only five staff members, our capacity to fundraise for the space is limited. Our primary focus is always our vulnerable community members; with an influx of anti-trans and anti-gay legislation in the state, we have never been busier. Mental health of our community has suffered in recent years due to COVID-19, social and cultural pressures, and anti-LGBTQ legislation. We look forward to opening our doors downtown again and providing affirming services to all LGBTQ members who seek us out.
