The Tuskegee Airmen were trailblazers for justice and now their history and courageous legacy are under attack

The story of the Tuskegee Airmen -- as told through the singular voice of Louisiana’s last Airman, Calvin G. Moret -- is not just a feature-length film about history, it’s about a testament to courage, excellence, the struggle for civil rights, and the fight for dignity in the face of structural racism.

The 900 who were part of the Tuskegee Airmen experience risked their lives for a country that did not grant them full equality, and yet they soared above every barrier placed on their path anyway.

Today, as we see efforts to deny, distort, or outrightly erase the truth of our nation’s civil rights struggles, the need to tell this story becomes more urgent than ever. If we allow their voices to be silenced, future generations may never know the sacrifices they made for the freedoms we have today.

AIRMAN: The Extraordinary Life of Calvin G. Moret is not just about honoring the Tuskegee Airmen -- by way of the singular experiences, stories and perspectives of Airman Calvin G. Moret— it’s about protecting our collective memory, defending truth, upholding justice, and ensuring that their fight for civil rights is never forgotten.

It is only by way of your support that we can bring Mr. Moret’s story to where it belongs; where it can inspire, educate, preserve history, uphold justice, and ignite action.

Funds raised will allow us to:

digitize and transfer 3 years of footage of time spent with Mr. Moret on land as he gave talks about the Airmen, the conversations we had every Friday at his home, and experiences up in the air during 3 flights including on a 1941 PT Stearman PT 17 – the plane that the Tuskegee Airmen trained on in Tuskegee!
digitize, enhance and tranfer other archival footage
travel with our production crew for interviews in 5 cities that are part of Mr. Moret’s AIRMAN story to interview Tuskegee Airmen historians and other vital voices
edit a production trailer that will allow us to pursue additional funding streams to continue interviews and finish the film
construct a website that will house a library of media and educational archival materials for students and anyone wanting learn more about the Airmen and their contributions to U.S. and world history, and the role they played in the struggle for civil rights
edit the film once all interviews are completed
acquire original music rights including Mr. Moret's favorites during World War II
work with the film's composer, the award-winning Kermit Ruffins on scoring the film
produce other trans media materials including educational materials, a book, etc.
enter film into film festivals and so much more
and finally, to premiere the film!
