Fifteen years ago, our teams first came together to support causes that honored two special people- Waterford’s Marissa Walker (then 9 years old!) and Stonington’s Lisa Wentz Day, who passed away in 1990.

The goal then- and the goal still today- is to teach our players that life is more than just a game! Today’s game shows us all that when we come together as a community, we are stronger. When we look across this field and see our family, friends, and neighbors who have been impacted by cancer, we can pull together to offer love and support and let them know we are here for them as they battle this disease. And when the unthinkable happens – and we lose someone to cancer – we can do everything we can to keep their memory alive and support our families in real ways.

Since this competition first started 15 years ago, we have gone a little further past just awareness, and together raised more than $15,000 to support our communities and make a difference for those battling this disease.
