The Laguna Ocean Foundation was founded in 2003 by a small group of Laguna Beach residents in response to recommendations of Laguna Vision 2030, a strategy for the future conceived by hundreds of community members who recognized the need for a local non-profit to conserve and protect the Laguna Coast and to educate the public about its valuable coastal and ocean resources.

Since Laguna Ocean Foundation’s inception 20 years ago the need for strong stewardship of coastal and ocean resources has become increasingly critical. New threats such as climate change, sea level rise, invasive species, ocean acidification and the ever growing number of visitors to the Laguna Coast have increased the scope and urgency of our mission.
