I joined EPIC as a Player in Fall 2024, and became a mentor in Fall 2025. It has been such a joy getting to know the EPIC community over the last year and a half. Not only are EPIC Players immensely talented, but they are so supportive and encouraging of their classmates and cast mates. The EPIC staff, mentors, a creative teams always create an environment where all are free to make bold choices, ask questions, and be celebrated for who they are.
I’ve participated in a number of classes over the last few semesters, including Stage Combat, Scene Study, and Standup & Storytelling. All EPIC classes are free to its members and allow Players to strengthen and gain skills in acting, singing, dancing, writing, and more! This past semester, I was one of the mentors in the EPIC Plays class and was so proud to see the hard work the Players put in over the weeks to create a fun, engaging performance for our showcase.
Neurodiverse and disabled people are largely underrepresented in theatre and other media, and are often underpaid in general. EPIC provides many audition opportunities, and everyone who is cast in a show is paid for their time and work! I performed in the last mainstage production, Seussical the Musical, as well as in the EPIC Underground, and the Y2Cabaret.
EPIC Players are also provided Advocates who they can meet with throughout the semester, to get support on class assignments, preparing for auditions, or rehearsing their lines for shows they are cast in.
All of the donations EPIC raises for Giving Tuesday will go right back towards supporting the Players, keeping classes free and performers paid! Thank you for your support and hope to see you soon at an EPIC show or event!
