Early In-Home Postpartum Physical Therapy Research
This study is designed to explore the impact on the lives of childbearing people if they receive a routine in-home Physical Therapy evaluation within the first two weeks after childbirth (or hospital discharge, if a longer stay at the hospital is required). The research team is especially interested in whether PT has any effect on: Maternal mortality and other serious health risks; Mental Health and general quality of life; Returning to all desired fitness activities; General ability to participate in all desired household and community roles.
All research takes funding, and this one is no exception. Here's how the raised funds will be used: Gift cards for participants as a "thank you" for the generosity of their time in furthering medical research; Covering all out-of-pocket medical expenses for the participants who receive the PT evaluation; To pay administrative staff for their additional hours in helping manage the logistics of this project
Any unused funds will be donated to a Postpartum Health nonprofit (TBD - suggestions welcome!)
