With your support, we unlocked our $10K match from the JLH Fund. Thank you for planting a seed. With every $10 you donated, we are now able to donate diverse books to children. This means we can create those MIRRORS- a positive image of BIPOC children on the pages of books and WINDOWS - an invitation for all students to build cultural bridges.
We can now donate 2,000 books with our match.
When we reach our $20K total goal,we can give 3,000 books. Can you imagine the impact of our collective efforts?
I can because I saw it over the weekend. I saw the joy when children looked at our books and said: "that's me." One little girl even hugged her book with a warm embrace like she had just met a new friend. This is possible because of your generosity.

Celebrating a Legacy of Change
What do you want your legacy to be? Legacy building was the theme of the 2022 Minnesota Twins Diversity Celebration.
I was honored with the Community Legacy Award. During my acceptance speech, I shared about the importance of partnerships and hope.
With your gift of partnership, we are sharing HOPE with our children. When we unlock our match, we will have the resources to donate over 2,000 books. We are only $225 from unlocking our match and reaching half of our $20K goal.
With your support, we are only $1,865 away from unlocking our $10K match. This will provide us with the opportunity to inspire 1,000 additional children through our Leaders are Readers program.
Why is this important for me? As a child, my library was my SPECIAL place. Through books, I learned new languages, traveled the world, and explored new career pathways.
My goal is to share this gift of learning.
ONE BOOK AT A TIME
ONE CHILD AT A TIME
I shared about my vision during an interview today with Rollingout Magazine. Tune in and learn more about how you can:
At PPGJLI, we are excited to partner with the JLH Fund to have a far greater impact on our community. Jrue and Lauren Holiday are matching donations up to $10K this Black Philanthropy Month. Funds will enable PPGJLI to continue its mission of increasing literacy rates and creating new initiatives.
We are grateful to this NBA power couple for investing in building a more just and inclusive society.
It was an opportunity to share about the impact
we are creating together. In 2017, we started with a humble vision of donating
1,000 Justice books to children and inspiring them to become superheroes for
justice. Our goal was to increase reading motivation and foster diversity in
books. As you know, we are in a reading
crisis when 1 in 4 children are not able to read. With your support, we can
CHANGE this and create a new intergenerational approach to reading and learning.
Family, community, educators, private sector, faith leaders… we can all come
together to learn and grow. Books and reading can serve as a catalyst for this type
of change.
To date, we have donated over 10,000 books and
inspired 5,000 youth during our school visits.
With your support during Black Philanthropy
Month, we aim to donate 2,000 additional diverse books.
Why does this matter? On Tuesday, I met with the youth at
the Boys and Girls Club. They described how much they loved our Justice book.
One young girl shared about how the books she read while growing up did not
reflect her experiences or her rich cultural heritage. The books focused on
peanut butter and jelly and animal stories. She was excited to see a book about
a girl that looked like her. This is a reminder of why REPRESENTATION MATTERS.
Together, we are planting seeds of social change as we promote
reading and diversity in books.
With gratitude,
Dr. Tyner

Thank you to our supporters!
A message from the Founder: Thank you to everyone who is supporting PPGJLI in our #LeadersAreReaders campaign! Your support is helping us:
1) End the reading crisis in our community - This is critically important when 1 in 4 children are not able to read which increases their likelihood of dropping out of school.
2) Promote diversity in books since representation in books matters - You are more likely to see a black bear or dog on the cover of a book than a Black girl or Black boy.
3) Inspire the next generation of leaders - Our RISE curriculum and learning tools help develop leadership in the early formative years.
We are so excited about the campaign and are grateful for your support as we GO BIG on these issues.
