Story
Our Mission: To bring the voice of Black Artists and underrepresented communities in Los Angeles to the performing arts stage.
For too long, improvisational theatre and comedy have ignored people of color and other underrepresented voices. So we started The Ledge Theatre.
We officially held our first performance on January 19, 2022--Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. To date, we've hosted over 100 performers on our stage, including Marsha Warfield, Frances Callier, and Angela Shelton.
The Ledge is proud to have residence as part of Improv Theatre since December 2022 and we love the community that has supported our quaint black box space on Vermont Avenue.
We would like to either keep our current venue for 2024 or expand to finally have a space that is first floor ADA accessible with room to program our Arts in Educational Programming for Youth of Color
Our venue will allow us to build a steady audience for the work we produce, and provide classroom space for us to host community classes for students of all ages who want to learn the art of improvisation and other comedic and dramatic art forms.
We have been honored to have grass roots fundraising through many avenues inculing The Meta World, Benevity and personal donations at the doors of our theatre. Every twenty dollars (Via our QR Code at the door or that one wonderful human who gave us twenty singles from her night shift at her resturant) helps get us closer.
We would like to make our goal to make these dreams for inclusive, BIPOC and LGTBTQIA Theatre a reality
We are building momentum, and invite you to join us in supporting our growth in 2024! Thank you for your generosity. Join us on The Ledge and take the leap of faith and joy in the arts with us.
