I cofounded ETA, so I obviously support the mission! I've never worked with a more dedicated group of colleagues or a more talented group of volunteers, and I'm so proud of what we are achieving together. I love seeing the impact people can make when we connect them — like the shy little kindergartner who lit up with joy and ran for a hug when he saw his ETA volunteer at the library, — or the proud mom telling me about the glowing report she just got from her daughter's teacher, and thanking the ETA volunteer who not only practiced English and ABCs with the little girl, but cheered her on and boosted her confidence, — or the teen who wrote on his evaluation after an ETA program, "I didn't think I would have anything in common with the older generations, but we have a lot of similarities. I didn't think they would care about us young people, but they were so kind." -- or the older adult who told me "Volunteering with ETA keeps me going -- I can block out all the stresses of the news and focus on that human-to-human connection, and really feel like: this is a difference I can make in the world."
