This Christmas, as we celebrate the coming of Jesus, the Light of the World, we are reminded how deeply our world longs for His light. Pope Leo XIV reminds us that we are called out of darkness: “We are the people whom God has chosen as His own, so that we may declare the wonderful deeds of Him who called us out of darkness into His marvelous light.”

SPIRITUS spreads the Light of Christ by facilitating life-changing encounters between youth and Jesus. Missionaries meet students where they are in their faith journey and share their loving witness of faith, showing them that Catholicism is relevant and meaningful in our everyday lives.

“SPIRITUS will teach you about your faith life and how to encounter challenges,” shared one student after retreat. An educator said, “I could feel the Holy Spirit at work in and through the missionaries.” The encounters students have with Jesus on retreat give them the skills to spread His light to those around them.

As much as the missionaries help students experience transformation, they also encounter the Light of Christ in new ways. One missionary shared this: “Through my prayers recently, I have found a focus: Trust, a simple yet transformative virtue. When I truly entrust my life over to Christ—all the anxieties, imperfections, and seemingly impossible problems to conquer—all things become possible and appear to be nothing as I place them before the foot of the cross.”
