Charlotte Moraga holds a singular place in the artistic legacy of Guruji Pandit Chitresh Das.

Among his disciples, Guruji consistently entrusted Charlotteji with extraordinary opportunities. He featured her prominently at Kathak festivals, performances in India, cross-cultural collaborations, and in many of his own groundbreaking choreographic works. Beyond the stage, he recognized her exceptional gift as an educator, encouraging students from across the United States, and even India to study with her because of the depth, clarity, and integrity of her teaching.

Guruji didn't simply train Charlotteji to perform. He trained her to carry his tradition forward. As Director of the Chitresh Das Youth Company, she worked alongside him to mentor the next generation of dancers. Through years of intensive training, she absorbed not only his repertoire, but also his artistic vision, teaching philosophy, and approach to developing performers. Perhaps most importantly, his teachings were a guide in finding the perfect vehicle to develop and express her own artistic vision.

After more than a decade of selflessly dedicating herself to the Chitresh Das Institute as a teacher, choreographer, mentor, and artistic leader, Charlotteji is stepping into the spotlight with a full-length Kathak solo presented exactly as she learned it from her Guru.

This performance is far more than a concert. It is a living expression of Guruji's legacy and an opportunity for CDI students, families, and the broader Kathak community to witness the artistry that he so deeply believed in and cultivated.
