This photo is the moment William was diagnosed and transported for emergency brain surgery for a medulloblastoma tumor.

William was an incredibly funny, exuberant, smart, kind, loving, and, of course, a handsome five-year-old boy who loved Legos, Star Wars, Super Heroes (especially Batman), dinosaurs, and animals. He had just finished kindergarten when he was diagnosed with medulloblastoma, the most common kind of pediatric brain cancer. Like his hero Batman, William faced extreme hardship with extraordinary strength, courage, and determination. He underwent numerous surgeries, 6 ½ weeks of radiation, and chemotherapy only to relapse two months after completing treatment. In the end, he died at the age of seven not from cancer but from the terrible complications caused by High Dose Chemotherapy with Stem Cell Rescue. He was unable to recover and died in January 2017. From that tragic day, the nonprofit William’s Warriors Inc. (82-3254490) was created to help other pediatric cancer patients and their families.

The Foundation has a 2 part mission:

The first is to fund Brain Cancer research ( https://www.sbpdiscovery.org/s...) and the second is to improve the quality of life for all children undergoing cancer treatment. We supply CCMC, Stony Brook Children's Hospital and Winthrop with art and craft supplies all year long as well as provide 1st-time admission Creative Care Kits for children facing their 1st inpatient treatment. In addition, we send free Creative Care Packages upon request to children nationally.
