Esther Residence is a transitional program for women who are leaving incarceration. We provide a safe, nurturing community that is based on dignity, respect and safety. We focus on assisting each woman in identifying and celebrating her strengths and gifts.

Sr. Lucille is one of the founding members of Esther Residence. She came with a master’s in
social work and as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with experience working with the women
at St. Andre Home in Biddeford, opening a home for women in Caribou, working with the
elderly in Van Buren and in Biddeford.

She brought skills, a caring heart, an ability to listen, and dedication to the staff and residents who came to Esther Residence.
When difficult situations arose, she led it to a positive and calm resolution. When residents worried that they would not find a job, she would say, “Hang in there, the job might be just around the corner. Just wait!
