Join us to dine with Clarence Moriwaki, long time Bainbridge Island resident and passionate change-maker. Open to just 12 alumni, lunch is hosted free of charge (This time thanks to Clarence for picking up delicious pizza!). Member of the Bainbridge Island City Council. Nationally-recognized speaker presenting "Let It Not Happen Again: Lessons of the Japanese American Exclusion," covering the timeless and timely story of the loss of liberty during times of fear, prejudice and failure of political leadership. Keynote and featured speaker for numerous public and private organizations including professional associations, federal, state and local government agencies, historical societies, museums, social-service organizations, libraries, community centers, and K-12 schools, colleges and universities. The presentation explores the history, fear, racism, and failure of political leadership that led to these unconstitutional actions of the exclusion and incarceration of 120,000 Japanese Americans during World War II, and why we must never let it happen again.
