NSBE Jr is the Pre-College Initiative (PCI) division of NSBE. The National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) is one of the largest student-governed organizations based in the United States. NSBE, founded in 1975, supports and promotes the aspirations of collegiate and pre-collegiate students and technical professionals in engineering and technology.

The NSBE mission is "to increase the number of culturally responsible Black Engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community."

The Howard County Chapter of NSBE Jr. (HoCo NSBE Jr.) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization registered under the Next Generation Leadership Academy (NGLA). Established in September 2016, NGLA provides targeted programming to students in grades 5-12, regardless of race, religion, nationality or gender. To date, we have serviced over 500 Howard County students.

Members receive valuable training activities and engagements designed to:

Promote Academic Excellence
Expose students to technology careers and education
Advance personal development and increase social capital

All students in grades 5-12 are welcome to join, regardless of race, religion, or gender.

*Students must remain in good academic standing to participate in chapter programs.
