Dear friends, artists, and supporters of SF Camerawork,

With the onset of the holiday season we ask you to join and support SF Camerawork in our ongoing commitment to excellence in photographic practice, and to the building of a strong and sustainable artistic community throughout the Bay Area.

SFC is proud to successfully conclude our first full year at our beautiful new waterfront location, presenting four new shows which revealed a great diversity of people and practices under the umbrella of photography: Dismantling Monoliths, curated by now-board member Jamil Hellu; FORECAST 2023, our annual survey of new voices in photography; Charles Lee’s solo show sweat+dirt; and a beautiful preview exhibition in support of our annual Benefit Auction. Together these shows have celebrated a wide range of experimental and interdisciplinary studio work, as well as concepts ranging from queer revisionist history to undertold Black American narratives. All the while, we have kept this year’s focus on Bay Area artists through increased artist fees and direct support for the creation of new work.

As we move into 2024, we look forward to maintaining these improvements and making even more, such as tripling our public program offerings, expanding our educational impact through the return of our artist-led workshop series, and rediscovering and reinterpreting the last 50 years (!) of SF Camerawork through special anniversary programming. Your support means everything to us, and no amount is too small as we reach for our $40,000 goal.
