Fighting Hunger, Nourishing Communities

Community Action Coalition for South Central Wisconsin (CAC) has been feeding and uplifting our communities for nearly six decades. Established in 1966 under the Economic Opportunities Act of 1964 — part of President Lyndon B. Johnson’s War on Poverty — CAC began as a grassroots effort to empower local families through direct support. Today, we’ve grown into one of the largest free food banks in Southeast Wisconsin, serving Dane, Jefferson, and Waukesha counties.

Through our innovative food security programs and strong partnerships with local pantries, farms, and grocers, we move hundreds of thousands of pounds of food every year — much of it locally grown and packed with nutrition. From developing creative distribution hubs to connecting surplus farm produce with families in need, CAC is always finding new ways to make healthy food accessible for all.
