Medical Aid in Dying Pricing Policies and Terms

Service Description:

Taos Whole Community Health Non-Profit offers medical aid in dying services to eligible patients who meet the following criteria:

  1. Must have a terminal diagnosis.

  2. Must be of sound mind and not making a decision out of severe depression.

  3. Must undergo an initial consultation to determine medical and cognitive appropriateness.

Pricing:

  • - The total cost for medical aid in dying is $3,000.

  • - $500 is due for the initial consultation to assess eligibility.

  • - The balance of $2,500 is due for the actual day of medical aid in dying.

  • - The compounded formula that is used costs around $500 and needs to be paid by the patient or patient’s representative directly to the pharmacy and is an additional cost to those mentioned above. 

 

Reimbursement Policy:

1. If the patient is deemed medically or cognitively inappropriate and is not on hospice care, Taos Whole Community Health Non-Profit will reimburse the patient the full $3,000 and bill their insurance.

2. If the patient is on hospice care, they will be reimbursed $2,500, less the $500 consultation cost.
