Story
It is more than two years after the pandemic and we are here today because of YOU! You believe in our mission and despite the lack of resources we encountered along the way you were by our side and we have so many good things happening this year!
Meridian Canine Rescue (MCR) is not only a dog rescue group, but a group of people thriving to give Second Chances. We are happy to announce our new program EPIC (Education Project for Inmates & Canines), a partnership between Meridian Canine Rescue (MCR) and the Idaho Department of Corrections (IDOC). The purpose of this program is to provide skills for both dogs and handlers that will be useful in their next steps through life.
Dogs admitted to this program will learn various behaviors before they become available for adoption. They will acquire real life skills that will make it easier for adoptive families to care for them in their homes, neighborhoods, vet clinics, and so on.
We are happy to report that our first dog Penny started this program on October 24th! She is an energetic and healthy girl and she is doing great so far! Stay tuned for updates on how her journey is going in the coming weeks!

Second Chances is a core mission at MCR, which is why we’re excited to be a part of the EPIC program to give more people and dogs a second chance.
-For the dogs - we provide rehabilitation and a calm environment to have a second chance in life and find a better home - "as long as it takes" that fits their personalities.
-For the inmates - this provides a Second Chance to improve lives and see that there is kindness and unconditional love behind the bars while they are doing their time.
-For MCR - our mission and goal is to fill a gap that is needed in the community. Helping dog owners keep their dogs, and provide dog behavior resources and support.
If a dog changed your life - Help change the life of a dog. We need your help to reach our goal of $20,000. Here’s how YOU can help!
