Story

Please join us on Sunday, October 3, 2021 at the Kinderhook Elks Lodge as we show our support for the Schwartz family.  Your ticket will include hot dogs, hamburgers, snacks, non alcoholic beverages, and a traditional pig roast with sides served at 3pm.  We will have desserts and great raffles as well.

You may know the Schwartz family or be unfamiliar with them.  Dad Brian and Mom Sarah have four wonderful sons.  They are all school-age boys.  Their youngest son Lincoln was diagnosed as an infant with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), and Our Community Cares, Inc. has assisted the family in various fundraising events and community donations to aid them with special equipment, holiday gifts, everyday needs, and medical expenses.

Last year, Brian was diagnosed with severe renal disease and has been on dialysis and out of work since.  He is also on the transplant waiting list.  Our Community Cares, Inc. is co-hosting this Pig Roast event to help them with ongoing expenses.  This tight-knit family appreciates each show of support from the community, won't you come out and join us?

Take-out meals are an option and tickets will also be sold at the event.  Event time is approximately 2-5 with main meal served at 3pm.

Please email us at [email protected] with any questions. If you have an item to offer for a raffle prize, let us know!

We are planning an outside event, however if the situation changes we can change to strictly take-out.

Cash Bar available inside the Elk's Lodge.

Our Community Cares, Inc. was formed by a local group of concerned citizens who have stepped up to help those in need in the past. These have ranged from residents losing their homes to fire, illnesses, tragic accidents and financial hardships. The desire was to create a central organization that responded quickly and effectively to residents in need.

Our community has always come together and collectively responded when the need arose. Our Community Cares, Inc. wishes to continue this response but in a more structured and organized environment to provide a more measured and appropriate response when the need arises.
