Dear family and friends,
I am thrilled to share that I will be returning to San Francisco de Yojoa, Honduras this March, in partnership with the organization Healthy Niños! This group is mostly Honduran locals who do some amazing work in Honduran communities to transform the lives of children and families in dire need of food, clean water, medical services, and safe homes. Some of their services include deworming, food distribution, water filtration installation, home-building, community education, and medical/dental services. You find out more about their work and mission on their website, healthyninos.org. Please pray for the staff members’ joy and strength as they work tirelessly to coordinate these programs.
While I’m there, I’ll have the chance to be a part of medical teams and construction projects to improve living conditions. We’ll also have the chance to connect with local families! I am so excited to experience the ways God is already at work within these beautiful communities, and gain a deeper understanding of the joys and challenges these communities experience. I'm also excited for our testimonies and lived-out faith to point others to Jesus and the wonderful good news of his cross. Please pray that hearts would be open to the Gospel!
I believe our service is a small offering in a world of great need, made significant not by our ability to fix things, but by God’s ongoing work of grace and redemption. Please pray that we will be fully yielded to the voice of the Holy Spirit, and that we will go into this trip truly dependent on the Lord’s plans rather than our own expectations (especially as many of us have been to Honduras with this organization before).
The people we meet in Honduras are our mission field — but so is our team. Please pray that during this trip, our hearts — the hearts of Alex, Ben, Nely, Logan, Ruth, Hailey, Paige, Seth, Laura, Julia, and myself — would be transformed to be more like Christ. It’s one thing to talk about a servant’s heart and compassion and love, and another thing to really embody it. Please pray that we embody it, that we represent Christ well. As I prepare for this trip, I humbly ask for your support because your prayers matter. Our Father is joyful when his children are even just a little bit invested in the things that he cares about!
And He also loves generosity! Would you consider supporting our team by giving toward the $15,000 goal? Your contributions would help cover the cost of our travel/housing/food as well as the supplies needed to make the biggest impact possible. Our team is also putting together a collection of donations — Bibles, toys, clothes, school supplies, and hygiene products — to bring with us and distribute. Your donations will also go toward these goodies and the luggages and fees we need to bring them abroad.
In addition, I would be greatly encouraged if you would pray for protection and guidance specifically for Alex Diaz and myself. Gordon is not hosting this partnership (as it was last year), so the two of us have taken on the role of trip-leader to make this mission trip possible. It has been a big learning curve trying to organize plane tickets and meetings and trying to get at the heart of why we’re even going to Honduras. We would love prayer for wisdom as we seek to serve our team well.
