Mana Performance Rugby (MPR) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization founded in 2021. Our purpose is youth rugby development and building positive characteristics to prepare these young people for college rugby and to further their education in university/college or trade school. We aspire to see them be future leaders serving their communities and helping others.

Mana Performance Rugby is one of eight National Development Program (NDP) in the U.S.A. However, we are the only NDP with a 100% minorities staff and ownership.

Colleges and universities need girls with experience playing 15 aside rugby. There are many tournaments for 7 aside rugby. It is difficult to find youth girls 15 tournaments. Therefore, we concentrated on the need for girls’ rugby. We devoted our energy in girls’ rugby development on both rugby games of 7’s and 15’s. However, we are totally training in 15 aside only.

We have girls from all walks of life, of all races and from ages 12 to 18 years old. We have coaches who are volunteers, and so are the staff. Today, many youths are challenged with anxiety, depression, and suicide. We are a safe sanctuary for them to socialize and be in a positive and loving environment. It is great to see the young ladies be competitive with each other and are friends every session.

We have competed in several tournaments. In the North American Invitational, we had two teams – U16 and U18. For our first tournament we did not place in the top 3. In the Los Angeles Invitational, our U16 took the Championship and the U18 came in 4^th. We then played our first 15 aside game in February 2023. We went unbeaten against a team from Bakersfield, Kern County. In May 2023 we were invited to the Island Bowl in Washington. After 2 days of 15’s we won the championship with an undefeated record of 3-0.

We will be hosting the Southern California Girls Invitational XV on August 4,5 and 6^th, 2023. We have four teams – Washington, Oregon, San Diego and MPR Los Alamitos, CA. We plan to host annually.

About the donations:

100% of all donations (minus Givebutter fees) will be used to support Mana Performance Rugby's operational costs and to kickstart other in-person fundraisers, such as our first annual Luau fundraiser later this summer.

We are so thankful to all of our friends, family, Rugby-mates and new friends for the continued support. As a non-profit without any major corporate obligations, we focus all of our energy on our players and act according to what is best for our players and for their future. That is why donations are so critical in making sure MPR is able to continue for years to come.
