Mary Susan Moore Medical Society (MSMMS) was founded in 1991 to provide health education and advocacy to communities in need and to support the training and development of Black female physicians.  Fundraising for scholarships for the next generation of physicians is an integral component of our fundamental purpose. Less than 3% of physicians are Black women and the average medical school graduate owes greater than $250,000 in total student loan debt. MSMMS is proud to say we are making an impact!  Over the years, we have awarded hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarships to students and residents at Baylor College of Medicine, The University of Texas Health Houston McGovern Medical School, Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine, and The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. Those recipients have gone on to pursue careers in various areas of medicine.
