ABOUT THE PROGRAM: Artificial intelligence already is being used in many types of communication. And its use is likely to grow in the years ahead. What are the benefits, and potential pitfalls, as AI spreads across the media landscape?

ABOUT THE SPEAKER: Tom Shine has spent nearly 45 years as a journalist. Much of that time was at the Wichita Eagle, which was using mostly typewriters when he started there in 1980. Tom joined KMUW as director of news and public affairs in 2017. He runs the KMUW newsroom and also is host of The Range, a show that shares stories about where we live and the people who live here.

WPC monthly meetings support a scholarship fund for Wichita-area students pursuing a career in communications. Every year, WPC provides scholarships of up to $2,000 for Wichita-area college and university students majoring in a communications field.
