Help Frodo Get Back on All Four Paws 🐾

Frodo is an 8-month-old puppy who should be spending his days running, playing, and growing without a care in the world. Instead, his foster family noticed that a few weeks ago he began limping on his front right leg — and when it didn’t improve, they knew something wasn’t right.

A veterinary visit revealed that Frodo had previously suffered a fracture to his ulnar growth plate. Unfortunately, the injury caused that growth plate to close prematurely. While the ulna stopped growing, the neighboring bone continued to grow — causing Frodo’s leg to begin bowing and becoming painful over time.

This is a complex orthopedic injury, and local specialists were unable to provide the care Frodo needs. After further evaluation, Frodo has been scheduled for surgery on January 9 at Sirius Veterinary Orthopedic Center in Omaha, NE.

What’s Next for Frodo

This upcoming surgery will be the first of likely two procedures. The initial surgery will reopen the growth plate to relieve pain and help correct the deformity while Frodo continues to grow. Once he reaches full maturity, he will likely need a second corrective surgery to fully restore proper alignment.

The cost of this first surgery is $3,000.
