Make Them Sailors: From Eleuthera to Marblehead
Learning to sail changed our lives, right?
Earlier this year, Ashley and Lane, two young sailors from Marblehead, Massachusetts, came to the Bahamas to volunteer their time and teach sailing. For almost a month, they coached, played, and shared their love for the sport with our Bahamian kids — building bonds that crossed cultures and oceans.
Now, it’s time for us to complete the exchange!
Three of our brightest young sailors — Deja, Denee, and Lorenzo — have been invited to travel to Pleon Yacht Club in Marblehead, the oldest youth-run sailing club in the U.S. (and probably the world!), to experience life in a true sailing town. They’ll spend a week immersed in world-class coaching, sail in a major regatta, and live with local host families who have already stepped up to welcome them with open arms.
This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the kids from Eleuthera to grow as sailors, ambassadors, and future leaders.
Pleon families are generously opening their homes and helping with local logistics — but we still need your help to get them there.
✈️ What We’re Raising Funds For:
-
Flights from Eleuthera to Boston
-
Travel documents & insurance
-
Sailing gear and transport
-
Local transportation & meals
Goal: $5,000 to cover all three sailors’ travel expenses.
🙌 Why It Matters:
Sailing teaches you more than how to steer a boat. It teaches problem-solving, endurance, goal setting, confidence, and how to stay calm in a storm, on the water and in life.
These are the lessons we’re sharing.
This is why we sail.
This is why we need your support.
Let’s show Deja, Denee, and Lorenzo that their hard work deserves a place on the world stage.
💛 Join the Crew:
Give $20, $200 — whatever you can. Every bit helps.
