The Sippican Lands Trust has been serving the residents of Marion and the South Coast of Massachusetts for nearly fifty years. Dedicated to the preservation of the natural benefits and rural character of the Town of Marion through conservation, preservation and maintenance of wetlands, open spaces, and wildlife habitat, the Sippican Lands Trust has acquired and protected more than 1,375 acres of land during its existence.

Acquiring and protecting these properties is not enough. Visits to the Sippican Lands Trust properties have increased significantly over the recent years as more people are realizing that engaging and connecting with their local environment has numerous benefits to physical and mental well-being. With this increased use, it has become important for the Sippican Lands Trust and the community it serves to ensure that these properties are accessible to the broadest range of individuals who seek to experience them.

With that background, the Sippican Lands Trust is kicking off a Marion Access Capital Campaign to raise funds to accomplish this goal. While the Sippican Lands Trust hopes to increase access throughout all the properties for which it is a steward, there are two immediate projects for which it is currently seeking donations:

The Hoff Property Parking Area & Trailhead

Creating the Hoff Property Parking Area and Trailhead to enable safer and better access to Aucoot Woods' 10+ miles of trails
Goal to Raise: $100,000
- $40,000 - Constructing to new parking area
- $10,000 - Design, Engineering, and Permitting
- $50,000 - Install trailhead kiosk and signage

Stewardship and Trail Maintenance

Maintaining and updating SLT's current properties and trails to be more inclusive and accessible to all
Goal to Raise: $150,000
- $75,000 - Increase SLT Stewardship Fund
- $50,000 - Trail improvements and pathway upgrades
- $15,000 - Create Summer Internship Stewardship Fund
- $10,000 - Support Land Management Equipment Fund
