Maternal Child Health is a critical program for Worcester RISE for Health! In 2025 we will be launching a program which trains members of refugee and immigrant communities to become doulas, partners with community leaders to address challenges related to hypertensive diseases of pregnancy and mental health and enhance collaboration among medical providers caring for this population.

Although we have funding to provide this community outreach and workforce development programs, we have very limited funding to support our direct patient service work. In order to provide comprehensive support for the pregnant individuals served by RISE we need your help! Funds raised through this campaign will help support dedicated Maternal Child Health community health workers who speak Haitian-Creole, Dari/Pashto, Arabic, French or Swahili. Funds will also support these new families with much needed supplies which they often lack such as cribettes, baby clothes, diapers, lactation supplies, etc - we sometimes get families which need these items immediately and would love to have some supplies on hand to support families in critical need. Lastly, the funds will support transportation needs of our community health workers to do home visits and our patients to access emergency medical care.

About Worcester RISE for Health

Created by a group of individuals passionate about serving refugees and immigrants, Worcester RISE for Health is the product of many organizations coming together to re-envision care for new arrivals.

Newly arriving refugees often have language and cultural barriers, come from backgrounds of substantial trauma, and were outright denied adequate healthcare in their countries of origin because of their gender, sexual orientation, race, religion, poverty, and more.

All are coming from different health systems and struggle navigating healthcare in the US; they are often not familiar with appointment systems, refills, referrals, and might not have had access to preventive care, chronic disease management, or continuity of care

Together we are building a different approach based on community engagement, empowerment and collaboration and centered on the needs of this unique population.
