UPDATE 8/21/24 9:13AM
Our girl Mayzie visited the vet yesterday to have her drain removed. She's walking with assistance 3 times a day for therapy, and even walked part of the way to the car and for the staff at Stanford Veterinary Hospital .
Thanks to the amazing staff at Stanford Veterinary Hospital and her medical foster, Mayzie is healing remarkably. She is a tough, resilient but sweet girl.
So far, we've raised $715/$1598. Thank you to everyone helping us help this beautiful dog!
UPDATE 8-14-24 5:00pm
Mayzie is finally settled in.
She had her right rear leg amputated and an FHO on her left hip. She's not super happy right now and in quite a bit of pain, but she has medications on board to help.
Mayzie is tiny, only 32 pounds, but she's alert and very much a fighter. She has a LONG recovery ahead, but we're confident she will make a full recovery and learn to walk on 3 legs in time. She's already trying hard!
We still have a balance at Stanford Veterinary Hospital of $893.67. You can call donations in directly to the vet at 606-365-0911 or donate here!

UPDATE 8-12-24 10:36 PM
Today, the sweet Husky we've been sharing, Mayzie, had major surgery. They ended up needing to amputate one of her back legs and her hip on the opposite side was also repaired.
Mayzie came through surgery like a champion, but she has an extensive, painful recovery ahead. Upon release, she will be medically fostered throughout her recovery period.
The surgery bill + medication ended up at $1568. We're almost halfway there! We just need to raise another $853!
Can you help us with Mayzie's surgery costs so we can continue saving dogs like her?
Last week, a sweet young Husky named Mayzie was hit by a car and picked up by a good samaritan. She was brought to Stanford Vet Hospital in Stanford, KY for evaluation.
The vet there determined Mayzie needs a significant orthopedic surgery, and multiple consulted vets agree.
This procedure is delicate, but because Mayzie has multiple injuries involving a fractured back leg and the opposite hip, this surgery is medically necessary to preserve her quality of life.
The quote for this surgery is $3300 and we will post the full quote for validation purposes.
Pawsitive Change Matters Most has a foster to care for Mayzie following her surgery, but we need your help to get the funds she needs to have it. Every little bit helps!
