ServeMedicine is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit offering a guided psychedelic experience for people with a life threatening illness, or end of life diagnosis.
My love for all things Grateful Dead - amplified by psychedelics - and my fortuitous participation in the Johns Hopkins University Psilocybin Cancer Study in 2012, when I had a Stage 3 breast cancer diagnosis, was my inspiration. In addition, my extraordinary experience at Fare Thee Well Chicago transformed me and shifted my vibration at a time I was still suffering from a list of chemo side-effects. Beyond drums and space, and Dr. Mickey on the Beam, was my quantum healing at the second show; now there’s nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile.
I had a dream of easily providing others access to the opportunity for psychedelic assisted healing, without being disqualified from studies for factors like age or geographical location. When my husband Donnie Kaplan and I began to put ServeMedicine together Spring 2022, we had no clue Donnie had a Stage 4 cancer diagnosis himself and wouldn’t make it to October for my birthday show at the Kennedy Center with Bobby and the NSO.
This is so personal to me. I work in the land of Grateful Dead and psychedelics every day. I created this amazing life following cancer. I do what I love every day. And I know miracles can be created no matter what stage of life we are in.
Imagine if people we love could transition feeling loved and connected to a deep sense of knowing and peace. That would truly be compassionate. Imagine if the fear and anxiety of a terminal illness was alleviated, and suffering was greatly reduced. And imagine if a person and their family had an opportunity to experience their transition as a spiritual opening, feeling love and appreciation for everything they have lived. I know this grace is possible. And what if the healing was so profound from a psychedelic journey that a life threatening illness was no longer life threatening?
Our fund-raising concept is four fold: sales of a psychedelically celebrating crowd sourced book created by Deadheads, tax-deductible donations from individuals and corporate donors, and 1,000 pro-bono psychedelic journeys per year provided by trained and vetted facilitators coast-to-coast. Plus creative partnerships at Grateful Dead inspired gatherings everyweir inviting folks in need to apply for a journey and inviting supporters to donate and participate in events.
If you've ever dreamed of being a Phil-anthropist, this is your opportunity. Your participation means everything!
