Reelect John McCann for Rutland City Alderman in 2025

I’m John McCann, and I’m running for a second term on the Rutland City Board of Aldermen. I’m proud to serve this incredible community and am committed to ensuring Rutland continues to be a safe, vibrant, and affordable place to live, work, and play. Your support can help make that happen.

About Me

In 2020, my wife and I returned to Vermont and made Rutland City our home. Despite the challenges of the pandemic, we found a house within walking distance of downtown and quickly fell in love with the city’s people, businesses, and year-round recreation.

I grew up in a household that valued service, my parents were involved with public education and volunteer firefighting. These values shaped my career and community involvement. Over the years, I’ve worked to protect clean air, clean water, and healthy watersheds, while supporting diverse land uses like recreation, farming, and forestry. I’ve also led small nonprofits and take pride in supporting others to achieve shared goals.

Why I’m Running

As an Alderman, I focus on:

  • Stability and Service: Strengthening transparency, supporting City staff, and engaging with residents to make thoughtful, community-driven decisions.
  • Sustainability: Securing grants to reduce taxpayer burdens, fostering community programs, and advocating for environmental initiatives that conserve resources and lower costs.

Serving Rutland City has been an honor, and I believe there’s more work to do. I’m running to ensure our city remains a place where families and businesses can thrive financially, environmentally, and culturally.

How You Can Help
