Last year, I paddled 160 miles
over 7 days, this year I'm doing 140 in one. As I do every year, I select
a physical challenge to push my body to the limits. Starting
with running the Miami marathon, to several Caminos in Europe, to last year's kayaking from Miami to Key
West, I feel a need to see what I can do next.
The Ironman is something I have
watched for years and thought to myself, “that’s absolutely crazy, there’s no
way I could do that”. It’s a 2.4 mile
swim, followed by a 112 mile bike ride, and rounding out the fun by running a
full marathon (26.2 miles). I know, it
sounds absolutely crazy but I’m doing it this Sunday! I have been training for 15 months and was scheduled
to be in Arizona this week, but it was cancelled just a few days ago due to
COVID. I can’t lie, initially I was
crushed. I put in all this work to get into
the best shape of my life only to have the race pulled out at the last
minute. I decided there is no way that’s
going to happen so I’m doing my own Ironman in Miami on Sunday, November 22nd!
And, as I did last year when I kayaked to Key West, I am partnering with SebastianStrong to raise money to fund childhood cancer research. Over the past 3 years, they have funded over $1.2 million in research in addition to providing much needed financial support to families of children battling cancer. This year I'm I'm excited to announce the partnership includes the Pediatric Angel Foundation.
As many of you know, Greta and I are
expecting a baby boy in the coming months.
I cannot express how excited I am to become a dad and how fatherhood has further
invigorated my commitment to trying to make the world a better place for kids
facing a cancer diagnosis.
I ask that you consider donating
to support my efforts. Know that 100% of
every dollar donated will go towards providing hope to kids fighting cancer. Thanks in advance for your support.
