Mishloach Manot Gift Baskets for Families of IDF Soldiers

Since the start of the war, a number of small businesses in Jerusalem and the surrounding area have been individually organizing donations to soldiers and their families. A few months into this war, we have come together to create gorgeous, handcrafted, and elegant gift boxes made in honor of Shabbat and holidays.

Shabbat Angels has partnered up with Sourdough Mazal, a Jerusalem based organic microbakery that is coordinating these gift boxes. All the money raised is Tax Deductible through Shabbat Angels’ online platform.

To date, we have delivered over 100 gift baskets to reservist families who have a family member serving in the Israel Defense Forces.

Our goal, in preparation for Purim, is to send 100 mishloach manot gift baskets to IDF reservist families in Jerusalem to show our gratitude, love, and support. At the same time, we continue to send weekly shabbat gift baskets to reservist families.

Each gift basket will have a bottle of a hand-crafted boutique wine made locally in the Judean Hills, two organic sourdough artisanal challot, a jar of hand blended organic teas, a handmade bar of locally made soap, and a print from a local Israeli artist made during the war or a handmade ceramic Hamsa. These items will be packed in a beautiful woven basket.

The cost of each basket is ~$100 (~400nis)

  • Wine 90nis
  • Challot 80nis
  • Herbal Tea 50nis
  • Soap + gift 50nis
  • Print 50nis or handmade ceramic Hamsa 60nis
  • Basket 40nis
  • Delivery cost 20nis

If we are able to raise $10,000 we can send 100 gift boxes as Mishloach Manot for Purim. This would have a tremendous impact on both the small businesses affected by this war, as well as bringing joy to each family for Purim. Funds raised beyond our goal for Purim-Mishloach Manot Gift Baskets will fund shabbat gift baskets to reservist families.

Can I choose the family/recipient of the gift basket?
Recipients are selected based on need, location, and availability.
If you have a specific family that you would like to receive a mishloach manot/gift basket, please put their name, address, and cell number in the notes/comments. Personal delivery requests are only available on a limited basis and only in the Jerusalem area at this time.
