On Sunday, Nov 17th 1-3pm, AALEAD and MoCoPAAN are inviting you to meet fellow community members who are invested in supporting Asian Americans and other students of color in MCPS. This event is an opportunity to learn more about current promising developments and discuss ways to support student success moving forward.
The goal of this event is to bring together our membership with an intersection of our Asian American community in MoCo (AALEAD families, MCPS teachers, MoCo community organizations) to build momentum toward addressing educational equity in the county. We want to promote our efforts regarding Asian American studies and teacher professional development, and also build more awareness and support for the Black and Brown Coalition's agenda and involvement activities.
We want to hear about the different experiences of what it is like to be a student, teacher, or parent and have discussions about defining success, empowering our Asian American teachers, and advocating for enhanced curriculum that reflects our unique histories. We'll also explain some potential paths forward to take action in the county and get involved with other local equity efforts.
This event will have light refreshments & snacks, a breakout for youth care, and access to public parking. Please message Joseph Malasa ([email protected]) if you need any accommodations or have any further questions.
