Established during the 2017-18 school year, this is the 8th year of the MPS Moore Love philanthropic initiative that focuses on engaging the MPS community to unite as one fundraising powerhouse to provide funding to local nonprofits that support MPS students and families. The set MPS fundraising month is February, but students begin their activities for their intra-district competition almost as soon as school starts in August.

Moore Love Council high school students from Moore, Westmoore, and Southmoore select the recipients each summer after hearing what they do during Pitch Day. Funds that the nonprofits receive in spring help them sustain selected programs or start new initiatives, with services coming back into the Moore community and reaching MPS families.

At the end of February, fundraising champions are named and receive a trophy and bragging rights. Four fundraising winners are announced each spring: one high school, one junior high, one elementary, and one feeder-school chain. Will it be the #lionpride, the #jaguarpride, or the #sabercatpride?

The selected recipients for Moore Love 2024-25 funding are:

Regional Food Bank: MPS works with the Oklahoma Regional Food Bank, Backpacks for Kids Program, to provide food in backpacks for approximately 700 MPS elementary students without enough food at home to sustain them over the weekend. We have food pantries at many junior highs and high schools for our older students.

Moore Faith Medical Center: They started their health and medical clinic and pharmacy nonprofit in 2015 to address that one in four Oklahomans goes without medical care. Many times, those without medical care and poor health get into situations that compound, including missed work, job loss, bankruptcy, homelessness, and more. Their volunteers have served patients and given more than 80,000 hours to community members in need. Learn more: moorefaithclinic.com

Fostering Sweet Dreams: FSD impacts the lives of Oklahoma’s most vulnerable children daily. FSD began in 2016 by providing beds to foster and kinship families that were bringing children into their home, often after cases of abuse and neglect. The Oklahoma Department of Human Services (OHS) requires that each foster child in a home has their own bed. They also help other vulnerable children and families, who are not involved with OHS but have a need for the resources we provide. Getting good sleep is essential to optimal physical, mental, and emotional health. Often, the children FSD serves are going through a traumatic time in their lives. Moore Police Department: Safety Town The Moore Police Department has three primary juvenile programs: Kops and Kids (elementary), Junior Police Academy (junior high summer program), and the Cadet Academy (high school age). The Northwest section of our community can be a challenged area due to socioeconomic issues and family structure. There is a high level of violent crimes in this area, and has children who experience routine adverse childhood experiences (ACE's). MPS Foundation: Bridges Capital Campaign The biggest focus this year for the Moore Public Schools Foundation is a capital campaign called Building Bridges. Together Moore Public Schools, MPSF, and Bridges, Inc. are working to make the dream of the Bridges of Moore Village a reality. Since 2002, MPS students have raised over $300,000 for this campaign. Bridges takes in students who - through no fault of their own - find themselves homeless or shelter insecure. Bridges helps students with food, clothing, medical needs, and above all else – stable housing. When completed, Bridges of Moore will provide housing for up to twenty unaccompanied MPS youth.
