Deshera Mack served Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools for 19 years as a beloved leader and principal at Seawell and Rashkis Elementary Schools. A three-time CHCCS Principal of the Year and the 2007 Piedmont Triad/Central Region Principal of the Year, she inspired generations of students and educators. Created in her memory, The Deshera Mack Scholarship honors her legacy of excellence and compassion. Each year on her birthday, October 14, friends and colleagues wear orange—her favorite color—to celebrate her life.
