Muffin is one of the sweet cats who currently calls Pet Angel her safe haven. She has a new medical issue that has developed, and we need your help to give Muffin the health care she requires!
Muffin originally came to our cat rescue in December 2023, after her owners left her abandoned in their empty apartment following eviction. The apartment complex believed she was left completely alone inside the empty apartment with no food, water, litter box, or even a bed for over 5 days before they found her. She came to us, learned to trust humans again, and has been residing in her multi-level cage in our rescue since she does not like other cats. Muffin has been up for adoption, looking for a forever home, until recently, when Muffin started showing signs of illness.
We discovered last week that Muffin had stopped eating and stopped going potty. A trip to the vet, resulting in an overnight stay and an array of different tests, revealed that Muffin has lumps on her mammary glands. We are going to be doing further testing to discover an official diagnosis for what is going on with her mammary glands, and this diagnosis may result in a surgery that is estimated to cost at least $1,000. Currently, the testing Muffin has had so far has cost $500, and we are planning for more testing to be done in July.
Muffin is currently back at Pet Angel, resting comfortably in her own, large one-level cage in our isolation room. The reason she stopped eating and going potty was because she was residing in a multi-level cage, which required her to jump to get to her food and water (which were on the second level of her cage) or her litterbox (which was on the lower level of her cage) and the jumping from level to level hurt her sore mammary glands. She is on currently on medication and is eating a strictly wet food diet. She is eating the wet food, enjoying lots of pets and love, and is in good spirits now that she is in a one-level cage. We have also removed Muffin from being up for adoption so we can address this health issue and help her get to a healthy state before going home with her future family.
Pet Angel is a no-kill rescue, and we provide any and all care that the animals in our rescue require, which means we are prepared to give Muffin any and all care that will give her the possibility of a long, happy, and healthy life. However, to be able to give Muffin this fighting chance and provide her with all of the vet care she will be requiring in the coming weeks, we need assistance in being able to afford her care. We are looking to raise $3,000 to have as Muffins Medical Fund. This will pay off her current medical bill of $500, and give us an additional $2,500 to pay for all further testing, medication, and even the surgery if our vet decides that is the best option for her.
Even just $1 toward Muffin’s medical fund is $1 more than we have for her care. Every cent donated toward her care will go directly toward Muffin's medical bills. You would be giving Pet Angel the ability to give Muffin the care she needs to be able to live a long, happy life, so we can find her a loving, forever home with a family who will give her everything she deserves. Muffin has had a rough go of it so far in life, and with your help, we are committed to helping her past this medical hurdle and give her a happily ever after.
Thank you for considering helping us provide Muffin the care she deserves! Updates on Muffin’s medical journey will be posted on Pet Angel’s Facebook Account mid/late July, once we know more.
