Hi! North Bend Elementary/Middle School’s chess team is raising funds for the 24-25 school year. This money goes towards US Chess Federation memberships, tournament fees, equipment and books, transportation costs, as well as food and accommodation for out of town tournaments.

We are a member of the Baltimore Kids Chess League, and we consistently attend all of their local tournaments. We also give our players opportunities to attend tournaments throughout Maryland and DC (including sending our top female players to All-Girls tournaments with Chess Girls DC). Last year, we attended the Maryland State Scholastic Championship, K-12 Nationals, and the DC Girls State Championship. This year, we are hoping to attend the Maryland State Scholastic Championship, Grade Level Championships in National Harbor, MD, Supernationals in Orlando, FL, and maybe even the All-Girls National Championship in Chicago, IL!

A majority of our students’ families cannot afford to fund these opportunities, so we want to be able to fully cover the costs for as many students as possible. Last year, we were able to cover costs by selling snacks at school and getting support from the Baltimore Kids Chess League, but we are foreseeing a lot of growth in our club this year now that we have started to win a few trophies and travel a little bit, so we are reaching out for additional funding to support our players this coming school year.
